Breakfast at Tiffany's

The long weekend is over and I've got a case of the mean reds, so it's time for Tiffany's...

OK all better now - I'm almost done for the day.
The Tiffany’s “Some Style is Legendary” advertising campaign is an homage to the Audrey Hepburn movie “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”.  I have this movie on video and watch it every once in a while.  It’s fun and touching all at the same time.

A romantic comedy film starring Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard, it was loosely based on the novella of the same name by Truman Capote.
Hepburn's portrayal of Holly Golightly as the naïve, eccentric woman is generally considered to be the actress' most memorable and identifiable role. She herself regarded it as one of her most challenging roles, since she was an introvert required to play an extrovert.  Hepburn's performance of "Moon River" helped composer Henry Mancini and lyricist Johnny Mercer win an Oscar for Best Song.
The little black Givenchy dress worn by Hepburn in the beginning of the film is cited as one of the most iconic items of clothing in the history of the twentieth century and perhaps the most famous little black dress of all time.

  1. Audrey Hepburn's presence brings joy and light to this occasionally depressing film. Hepburn is Holly Gollightly. Mickey Rooney's somewhat grotesque depiction of a Japanese neighbor is classically hilarious. George Peppard is brilliant. Holly Gollightly is a character to fall in love with.
