On the Lookout - Mascara

I'm always on the lookout for makeup and cosmetics that really work.  So right now it's mascara.  With all the trauma I've been through lately, I'm finding I need to find a better mascara.  This one caught my eye, but I'm wondering if anyone has used it and what they think of it?  Let me know.

The silver ring allows you to switch the direction of the brush rotation so you can adapt to every application need—left- or right-handed, upper or lower lashes!  It's a limited edition so naturally I might already be too late but I'm going to head out next week and see what I can find.

Good Time to Visit England

Speaking of royalty, with the Queen's 60th Jubilee Celebrations taking place it's probably as good a year as any to pay a visit to England.  It will be expensive no matter where you stay this year, so I'm thinking why not go all out and be in the centre of things.

Maybe the queen will drop by for high tea since I'm so close.  Ok maybe not.  She doesn't look too happy.  I think I just broke protocol.  Ooops.

I've also decided to take a personal vacation from life for a week, including this blog.  I need some time to regroup, get my life more organized, do some shopping, catch up from the lack of sleep I've been feeling lately, and just spend time relaxing.

I'll see you next week.

Leopard and India

I'm starting to find myself looking at leopard and cheetah prints a lot lately.  I tend to shy away from prints since I find it limits what I can wear it with but leopard seems to be classic enough that you can wear it with anything.

For example:

For this interview, "Ms. Hicks was wearing knee-high black leather boots, skinny jeans, a leopard-print blouse from Zara and a cascade of gold bangles."  So casual sexy.

You've got to love her style.

Touches of Gold & Black

This table setting looks so glamourous to me.  It makes me want to throw on my black velvet gown, elbow length gloves, diamonds and tiara.  Ok maybe not, but it's beautiful to admire during this dull grey time of year.

Cozy Sweater

Doesn't this look so cozy and chic at the same time.  I so want to find something like this.  I'm already quite finished with the snow thing.

Perfume Vanity

I've been on a perfume shopping spree lately looking for my new scent and I've found quite a few.  Now I'm looking for an inspirational way to display them.

My Dream Parisian Apartment

Absolutely stunning.  Someday maybe.  I believe these images came from Plush Palate and the apartment belongs to a friend of hers.

Cookie Dough - Enough Said

Who can resist cookie dough.  It has so many great memories for me with my mom.  Getting to lick the spoon, clean out the bowl, heaven when you're little.  My son enjoys the same memories.  So you can imagine how much I'm looking forward to finding this cookbook when it's released.

"I am so excited to finally announce that my book, The Cookie Dough Lover’s Cookbook, will be published by Quirk Books this coming June. June 5th, to be exact. That’s less than 5 months away."

Want a sneak preview?  Here is one her most popular posts and right on the cover.

So I'm marking June 5 on my calendar.  Hopefully it will make its way to Canada too.

Snuggling up with J. Crew

Snuggling up in warm cozy sweaters is really all I want to do.  Maybe I have a cold coming on...

My Cocoon Phase

I've hit burnout.  All I want to do is snuggle up with a cup of tea, some magazines and relax...
It's dull grey and rainy here today and I just want to curl up and disappear for a while.

Black & White - Critics Choice

Since I'm on the subject, I saw only black and white at the Critics Choice Awards.  One black gown and one white gown.  Only two - very distressing.

Charlize Theron
Always stunning.

Stacy Keibler
Lovely in white and diamonds - a classic choice.  The woman certainly has great taste in clothes and men apparently.

Golden Moments

It's that time again.  Hollywood award season where actresses via for the best gowns, the best personal dressers, the best hairdressers, the best makeup artists, and drop tons of money on every beauty treatment known to man.  Not a bad way to start the New Year if you ask me.

At any rate, for what it's worth, I'm going to showcase my favourites from the evening.  Sorry to say I didn't even watch the award ceremony so I can't comment on how good it was.  Football took precedence in my household this weekend.

Starting with the Golden Globe Awards - my favourites:

Nancy O'Dell
Very Ginger from Gilligan's Island - I always wanted to be Ginger.

Maria Menounos
Love this colour of yellow on her.  Not sure what you'd call that colour.

Nicole Ritchie
She looks so sophiscated and grown up.  She's come a long way.

Sarah Michelle Gellar
Wild - her child picked this dress out.  It actually really looks good on her.

Stacey Kiebler
A stunning red gown and the ultimate accessory - George Clooney - every girl should have one.

Angelina Jolie
White satin and red lipstick - this woman could wear a paper bag and still look great.

Kate Beckinsale
Soft and pretty.

Salma Hayek
Different, glamourous - sexy - very Salma

Natalie Portman
A pretty rose coloured gown.

Reese Witherspoon
Wow - Knock em dead Red

Jessica Alba
Lovely in Lavender

Helen Mirren
A Queen in Navy - always stunning, sexy and classy.

Nicole Kidman
This dress caught me off guard.  At first I didn't like it, but then I saw how much it enhances her great figure and the beautiful bead work and details and now I love it.  Way to go Nicole.
