A Winter Wonderland

This past week someone at work pointed out when I whined about needing a vacation that I only had a month to go and I was off for the rest of the year.  I'm taking an extra long holiday this year as I've been pushing myself for far too long.  No plans - just relax.  However, I'm not there yet and my son has being going on about decorating early this year.  But doesn't seem interested when I point out we need to go and get a tree and new lights.  Then he puts it off for another weekend.  At this rate, we may not decorate at all.  Today though we're going to be busy digging out from all the snow we accumulated this week.

Have a great weekend everyone.

It's Snowing Again... Sigh

Just a reminder to myself that Winter can be beautiful.  Looks like I've got a lot more winter to get through so I've got to think positive.

New Meaning to Winter Wonderland

Forgive my slow return to the world of blogging.  This past "deep freeze" we experienced wreaked havoc with my life.  Frozen pipes, wonky furnace, frozen car battery and I've already had enough of winter.  The budget for the year for is blown - my get away vacation if looking pretty dim now - and now we're into rain and melting ice and snow - which also means flooding.  Winter can be beautiful but not when you're bundled up like Nanook of the North and trying to keep from freezing in your own home.  This week I truly appreciated those who were without hydro for extended periods of time.  One day did enough damage that my entire week was a mess.

I'll get back on line when I've unthawed.  My spirits as much as anything else at this point.

Snow and more Snow

This weekend was all about digging out from the snow.  It just never stopped - looks like we'll be having a white Christmas after all.  Weather like this just makes you want to snuggle up at home in front of the fire with wool socks on your feet and a warm drink in your hand.  Maybe when I get home and maybe even a walk in the freshly fallen snow. Ok maybe that last one is a bit too ambitious at the moment.

My Cocoon Phase

I've hit burnout.  All I want to do is snuggle up with a cup of tea, some magazines and relax...
It's dull grey and rainy here today and I just want to curl up and disappear for a while.

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow

I must admit that while I hate the shovelling, driving in bad weather and frigid temperatures, snow can be quite pretty.  I woke up this morning and despite icy conditions I was struck by how beautiful the trees looked.  No time to stop and take pictures however, but I've decided to be less negative with the white stuff this year.

Beautiful isn't it.  No idea where it originated from.  I've seen it everywhere lately.
